Who should participate: DPW and Fire/EMT drivers.
Three hours to full day classroom/practical training. DPW classroom training addresses the following topics: pre –trip inspection; vehicle characteristics (weights and dynamics); intersections; understanding braking systems, backing; night driving, and environmental conditions. Participants may take classroom training only or combine with additional practical driver training.
The practical driver course allows for 10-15 minutes per participant and includes: straight line driving and backing, alley docking, serpentine, lane change, diminishing clearance, confined space turn around, parallel parking, backing with and without a spotter and trailer handling.
Onsite Fire training is a full day combined classroom and practical training course. Members wishing to request onsite hands-on (classroom or practical driver training must fill out and submit a Request for Simulator or Onsite Driver Training Form with details and contact information to miiadrivertraining@mma.org.
